Recognized Firewise Community/USA

Located in a valley southeast of Waldron in Scott County, the 250 Community is surrounded by mountains the the Ouachita National Forest.

The 250 Volunteer Fire Department attended their first Firewise meeting in 2003, and learned how to maintain and protect homes and property from dangerous wildland fires.

The 250 Firewise board was formed on Oct. 8, 2004, and the community earned Firewise Communities/USA recognition in December 2004.

The 250 Volunteer Fire Department has conducted several Firewise community projects and obtained equipment through Arkansas Forestry Commission Arkansas FireWise mitigation grants to protect homes from wildland fires.
