Pleasant Plains

Recognized Firewise Community/USA

Pleasant Plains became a recognized Firewise Community/USA on Oct. 4, 2007. A luncheon and recognition ceremony was held Oct. 23, 2007, in the banquet hall of Mount Magazine State Park Lodge. Accepting a plaque presented by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe were Pleasant Plains Mayor Rick Siler and Pleasant Plains Fire Chief Stacey Caplener. Also present was Arkansas Forestry Commission White County Ranger II Lowell Altom and White County Judge Michael Lincoln.

For their 2009 FireWise project, the Pleasant Plains Fire Department undertook the cleanup project pictured below. This area worked on is near the downtown area of Pleasant Plains. This is an excellent example of how FireWise project efforts can affect communities at a quite a personal level.
