Recognized Firewise Community/USA

The community of Black Springs (Montgomery County) was certified as a FireWise Community in October of 2009. Served by the Norman Volunteer Fire Department, the community chose as its FireWise project the featured home below. These before and after pictures are a great example of the creation of defensible space. Crews in wildland turnout gear successfully created a fire barrier between this home in the wildland/urban interface and its surrouding woody landscape.
