Camp Albert Pike

Recognized Firewise Community/USA

 

 

Camp Albert Pike became a recognized Firewise Community/USA on Oct. 16, 2007. A luncheon and recognition ceremony was held Oct. 23, 2007, in the banquet hall of Mount Magazine State Park Lodge. Accepting a plque presented by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe are Janice and Denver McRae.

Camp Albert Pike was established in 1878, and is located in the scenic Ouachita Mountains. This recreational community covers an estimated 200 acres, and only a few residents live in the area full-time. The area is protected by the Langley Volunteer Fire Department.

Camp Albert Pike Firewise board members are Janice McRae, Denver McRae, Sharon Paxton, Bill Paxton, Brian Pounds, U.S. Forest Service; Bob Lewis, Langley VFD Fire Chief; Billy Williams, AFC Pike County Ranger III, and Danny Crews, AFC Pike County Ranger II.
