Wilmar and Lacey-Ladelle

A Firewise presentation to firefighters from the Wilmar and Lacey-Ladelle Volunteer Fire Departments was held in Wilmar May 2, 2005.

Attending were Marvin Jackson, Wilmar VFD Chief; Karyon Calhoun, Wilmar VFD; Johnny Dun, Wilmar VFD; Gwain Hammel, Wilmar VFD; Greg Jones, Lacey-Ladelle, VFD Chief; Bessie Brantley, Lacey-Ladelle VFD; Edger Spence, Lacey-Ladelle VFD; Greg Jones, AFC representative; Eric Myers, AFC representative, and David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator.

Monticello Fire Training Center

Five fire departments in Drew County attended a FireWise meeting at the Monticello Fire Training Center on April, 5, 2005. The Arkansas FireWise Communities message was brought to Southeast Arkansas thanks to the efforts of Greg Jones, AFC County Ranger, and the fire chief of the Lacey-Ladelle Volunteer Fire Department. Thirty firefighters received training on Wildland Fire Risk Assessments.

Also attending were Bill Horn, ADEM, Drew County Fire Coordinator; and Arkansas Forestry Commission Representatives Joe Friend, District Forester; Greg Jones, Eric Myers, Lee Fleming and David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator.
