Recognized Firewise Community/USA

The Hartman Firewise board was organized in June 2003, and was recognized as a Firewise Community/USA on Dec. 21, 2004. Fire Chief Rick Elms of Johnson County Rural Fire Department #4 sent the Arkansas FireWise team a report on Firewise activities in Hartman.

"With the grant, we purchased wildland fire gear to protect our firefighters, a chainsaw, and leaf blowers to help in the removal of fire load."

In 2005, the Hartman Firewise board cleaned up an abandoned house on South Main Street. Volunteer also selected a business located on Johnson County Road No. 2250 as a mitigation project. (2005 mitigation project photos)
