Holley Mountain Airpark Recognized Firewise Community/USA |

On Oct. 24, 2006, a Firewise Communities/USA recognition ceremony was hosted at Holley Mountain Airpark in recognition of the community's newly designated Firewise status. Numerous residents as well as a regional federal review team assesing the impact the Firewise program has had on communities in Arkansas attended the event catered by Lazy L Bar-B-Que. Don McBride, Assistant State Forester-Protection, presented the Firewise Communities/USA plaque to members of the Holley Mountain Airpark board. David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator, presented the highway signs designating the community's Firewise status. The Firewise message was taken to this unique community of aviation enthusiasts and pilots on Dec. 1, 2005.
Every home at Holley Mountain Airpark has an aircraft hangar either next to the home, or as part of the home, such as the hangar-apartment suite of Joe and Carolyn Marshall, owners of the December 2005 Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month.
