The November 2003 Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month belongs to Bill and Reba Altstatt of Cedarville, located in Crawford County.

The home is located in a new subdivision just south of Cedarville - a subdivision developed to be Firewise by Rick Mooney, the developer. All 30 lots in the subdivision are Firewise, and it shows the results of good planning by the developer before building ever starts. In addition, Mr. Mooney is keeping vacant lots neatly trimmed and lean, clean and green.

Vegetation has been thinned around the home to create a large defensible space.The home is sided with brick and has a asphalt shingle roof. The fireplug in the front yard provides additional protection. The home's address is easy to find, and the road is more than adequate for emergency vehicles.
