The May 2004 Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month belongs to Kent and Julie Rose of Mena. The home is a great example of how reducing fuels in the entire home ignition zone (200 feet around the structure) doesn't mean surrounding your home with a bare dirt ring. The home is constructed of brick siding and has a fire-resistant roof. The swimming pool also provides an emergency water supply.

Also note, the home's address is clearly marked and there is easy access for emergency vehicles.
