The Arkansas FireWise Team chooses a home each month that illustrates Firewise principles. Carolyn and Wayne Gurnsey live near the Starves community in Cleveland County, but their mail comes postmarked "Rison," and are owners of the February 2006 FireWise Home of the Month. The rock siding, tidy flower beds, street accessibility and extended defensive space into the pine stand behind the home caught the eye of Arkansas FireWise Coordinator David Samuel.
