The Arkansas FireWise Team chooses a home each month that illustrates Firewise principles. David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator, discovered the home of Carolyn Milner during a trip to the Ouachita County community of Frenchport.

This home located at 1722 Ouachita County Road #67 is constructed of brick and composition shingles. Milner has increased her home's survivability by creating an excellent defensive space through landscaping and a recently thinned pine stand. The home's risk from wildfire is also greatly reduced because of its accessibility and nearby water source (city fire hydrant).
