The 250 Volunteer Fire Department attended their first Firewise meeting in 2003, and learned how to maintain and protect homes and property from dangerous wildland fires. The 250 FireWise Board was formed on Oct. 8, 2004 and was certified as a Firewise Community/USA on Dec. 21, 2004. The 250 Volunteer Fire Department has conducted several Firewise community projects and obtained equipment from Arkansas FireWise grants to protect homes from wildland fires.

in a valley southeast of Waldron in Scott County, the 250 community is
surrounded by mountains and the Ouachita National Forest.
