 Caney Creek Volunteer Fire Department hosted the monthly meeting of the
Calhoun County Fire Chiefs Association on Oct. 17, 2005. This was the first meeting in their new fire station and the ladies of the department served delicious hot chili and some unbelievable deserts to the firefighters to celebrate the grand opening of the new Caney Creek Fire Station.
Thanks to Kenny Evans and Volunteer Fire Department members for being such great hosts. Also special thanks to Bob Baker for getting the Arkansas FireWise Team on the agenda. We have outstanding FireWise support in southeast Arkansas by both fire departments and Arkansas Forestry Commission staff members such as the District One Forester, County Forester, and County Rangers from both Calhoun and Cleveland counties. Also attending the meeting were the Calhoun County Judge and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management Coordinator for Calhoun County. Seven Volunteer Fire Departments were represented:
Harrell, Locust Bayou, Artesian, Tinsman, Hampton, Chambersville, and Caney Creek.

 Several Volunteer Fire Departments are planning to schedule Risk Assessment Training during the first two weeks of December. In addition, the
Cleveland County Ranger will be scheduling a FireWise meeting with Volunteer Fire Departments in during December.
