Hartman

Certified Firewise Community/USA

The Hartman FireWise Board was organized in June 2003 and was recognized as a certified Arkansas FireWise Community on Dec. 21, 2004. Fire Chief Rick Elms of Johnson County Rural Fire Department No. 4 in Hartman sent the Arkansas FireWise Team a report on FireWise activities in Hartman: "With the grant we purchased wildland fire gear to protect our firefighters, a chain saw, and leave blowers to help in the remove of fire load."

In 2005, the Hartman FireWise board cleaned up an abandoned house on South Main Street.

"In contacting the property owners, we advised them about the FireWise program. We also explained that the property was a fire hazard and could give assistance in removing the heavy vegetation," Fire Chief Rick Elms said.

Volunteers also selected a business located on Johnson County Road No. 2250 as a mitigation project.

Below are photos of 2005 mitigation projects the Hartman FireWise Board completed.
