The Ludwig-Lakewood area is one of four Johnson County communities certified on Dec. 21, 2004. Fred Taylor, Office of Emergency Services Coordinator for Johnson County and a firefighter submitted the photos below of the community's 2005 mitigation project.

He said, "Here are some pictures of our clean-up day at the home of Mrs. Eugena Dinkins. Mrs. Dinkins is an elderly handicapped person in our district. We had seven firefighters (and one kid) helping. We spent about 14 manhours on this project."
