Norman

Recognized Firewise Community/USA

The community of Norman became a Firewise Community/USA in December 2003. On Oct. 23, 2007, Norman was recognized for its fifth year of Firewise Community/USA participation during a luncheon and recognition ceremony held in the banquet hall of Mount Magazine State Park Lodge. Accepting a plaque presented by Governor Mike Beebe were Ben Rowland, Fire Program Manager, Ouachita National Forest, Caddo/Womble Ranger District; Tim Turner, Teresa Turner and Myrtle Parish.

For their 2007 Firewise mitigation project, volunteers cleaned up a wooded area between two parks. Before and after photos can be viewed below.
