Danville

Certified Firewise Community/USA

In the summer of 2003, a group of firefighters and public safety officials formed the Yell County FireWise board to protect their communities from wildland fire. The original Yell County FireWise Board reorganized into five separate boards, and all five towns — Centerville, Danville, Dutch Creek, Mount George, and Plainview — were recognized as certified Firewise Communities/USA on Dec. 21, 2004.

The Danville FireWise Board conducted three 30-acre prescribed burns to eliminate wildfire fuel in February 2005. Board member Kurt Radcliff, a fire management officer for the United States Forest Service, supervised the burn and sent the Arkansas FireWise Team these impressive photographs.
