Old Davidsonville State Park

Arkansas State Parks and Museums have made commitments to becoming Firewise in an effort to prevent another major wildfire like the one on Petit Jean Mountain the summer of 2000. Old Davidsonville State Park is between Black Rock and Pocahontas. Historic Davidsonville, established in 1815, was the site of the Arkansas territory's first post office, courthouse and land office. Firewise partners at Old Davidsonville State Park include Marlon Mowdy, Terry Bonner, Kary Storey and Dan Johns.

The photos below were taken on the camping loop at the state park. In the before photos you can see the fuels and unsafe conditions. Photos were taken following a prescribed burn to note the dramatic improvement.
