The home of Sally Deguise of Cottonwood was chosen as FireWise Home of the Month for January. Tommy Creamer, Cottonwood Fire Chief; Tony Siciliano, FireWise Consultant; and David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator felt the Deguise home was a model for the community.

Located at 3725 Cottonwood Road, about one mile south of the Cottonwood fire station, the home uses design, landscaping and construction to create a defensible space. A concrete driveway makes an excellent firebreak, and the home's number is clearly visible from the road.
