The Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month for January 2009 is the home of Roger Robinson located at 15 Hwy. 319 East in Vilonia in Faulkner County.

Mr. Robinson is a battalion chief with the North Little Rock Fire Department, following in the footsteps of his father before him, and has been with the department for 20 years. He built the present structure in 1995 on his childhood homestead.

The home was nominated by Faulkner County Ranger II Orbin Barnes. Barnes said the home was selected because of the immaculate landscaping and the large amount of defensible space. Brick construction also helps to make the home ingnition-resistant. The shop building adjoining the house is also made of brick and metal. The good concrete driveway helps create a large firebreak along with the highway frontage.
