The July 2003 Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month is located in Mt. Ida. Robert Kassaw, homeowner, demonstrates that being Firewise can also be beautiful.

The Kassaw home is all about defensible space, and it demonstrates the most important Firewise principle — a fire-resistant roof. Metal roofing and siding provide added protection against wind-blown embers. Also, note the shed is well away from the house and the carports are clean and fire-resistant.
