On Jan. 17, 2008, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator David Samuel presented an introduction to Arkansas FireWise and the process of becoming an Arkansas FireWise Community to the staff of Crowley's Ridge State Park and Lake Frierson State Park.

Attending the meeting were Crowley's Ridge State Park staff David Flugrad, ranger; Rick Lane, assistant superintendent; Larry Adams, maintenance supervisor, and Donnie Swindle, maintenance; Lake Frierson State Park staff Vicki Trimble, assistant superintendent; Bob Passmore, maintenance supervisor, and Angel Parrish; and Arkansas Forestry Commission Representatives Adam Runkle, Ranger II, and David Samuel.

Following the presentation, wildfire risk assessments were conducted on both parks. The Visitor Center, maintenance area, superintendent's residence, rest rooms and enclosed pavilion all had adequate defensible space.
