The Ludwig-Lakewood area is one of four Johnson County communities recognized on Dec. 21, 2004. Fred Taylor, Office of Emergency Services Coordinator for Johnson County and a firefighter, submitted the photos below of the community's 2005 mitigation project.

The group cleaned up the home of Mrs. Eugena Dinkins, an elderly resident in the fire district. There were seven firefighters and one child helping with the project. (2005 mitigation project photos)
