Miller County Historical & Family Museum |
The Miller County Historical & Family Museum in Fouke was nominated for the Arkansas FireWise Honor Roll by David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator, because of the building's great defensible space, rock siding and metal roof. The museum was established in the fall of 2003, in a building built in 1918, and used as a church. The purpose of the museum, according to its curator Frank McFerrin, is to preserve the history of Miller County. Visitors come for a variety of reasons according to McFerrin, whether it's looking for genealogical information, someone interested in local history, or an author researching information for a book. The museum includes a number of exhibits on various topics including the legendary Fouke Monster, the Civil War, Arkansas license plates, medicine bottles and Indian artifacts. The Miller County Historical & Family Museum is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday. Special tours are available by request. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
