Oak Grove-Batson-White Oak Recognized Firewise Community/USA |

Oak Grove-Batson-White Oak became a Recognized Firewise Community/USA on Dec. 10, 2007. The community is protected by Johnson County Rural Fire Department #11, whose district covers approximately 62 square miles. A meeting was held March 20, 2007 at Rural Fire Department #11 to discuss the process of becoming a recognized Firewise Community/USA. Attending were fire department members and residents of Oak Grove, Batson, White Oak and surrounding areas. Larry McCartney, Fire Chief, brought the meeting to order and a motion was made to elect a Firewise board. Board members are Mary McCartney, chair; Doris Wright, secretary; Warren Slater, Shaun Mason, Mike Cooper, Luther Hardin, Richard Gibson, Fred Taylor, Johnson County Fire Coordinator; Dan Martin, Ozark National Forest-Pleasant Hill Ranger District FMO; Jeff Frizzell, AFC Johnson County Ranger, and Jack Edwards, FireWise consultant. |
