The October 2006 Arkansas FireWise Home of the Month is owned by Don and Wanda Riley. It is located on Ouachita County Road east of Stephens, just west of the Ouachita 2 and Ouachita 142 County Road intersection. The home was built 17 years ago on an 80-acre tract of timberland. Approximately six acres were cleared for the home, in which shade and fruit trees were later planted.

The brick home has about 200 feet of defensible space on all sides, and "although the metal shed is closer to the pine plantation, it still has sufficient space," said David Samuel, Arkansas FireWise Coordinator.

The Rileys are also members of the Stephens Volunteer Fire Department.
